Wake surfing involves riding a small surfboard on the wake created by the boat. We use a brand new industry leading Super Air Nautique S23 to ensure you have the smoothest ride. Our coaches are fully qualified and licensed BWSW Level 2 wake surfing instructors, ensuring you’re in the best hands.
No! Anyone can have a go. Our qualified instructors are ready to guide you through the fundamentals. We have developed our own unique techniques to make it as easy as possible for complete beginners, and we have a 95% success rate on the first session.
All you need is yourself, a towel, and a willingness to have fun! We provide all necessary equipment, including surfboards, buoyancy aids, and wetsuits, which can be hired if needed.
Yes, wake surfing is a great sport to enjoy in the rain—after all, we’re getting wet anyway! Your safety and enjoyment is our priority, so sessions will be rescheduled in cases of severe weather which may compromise this.
We are located at The Windermere Marina Village, easily accessible from the main road. When arriving by car, there is a barrier with a code, so stop at reception and they will let you in. Call us on 07555 003 118 or email hello@windermerewakesurfing.co.uk if you need help.
Sessions typically last between 1 and 4 hours, sessions over 4 hours can be accommodated by prior arrangement if you wish to really make the most of the day. Simply head over to our booking form to get started.
Our boats can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people, including participants and spectators.
Getting Started
We always recommend wearing a wetsuit; however, we have these available in all sizes to hire on the day if you don’t have your own. A towel will be useful for drying off afterward.
You’re welcome to bring your own gear and If you have your own wetsuit, yes please bring it along, however we provide all equipment, including surfboards and wetsuits are available to hire on the day should you need it.
We provide all customers with coastguard approved buoyancy aids, and helmets (if requested). All our equipment is top-quality to ensure your safety.
We recommend it from 8 yrs old simply because of strength and confidence in the water, but younger and smaller children can be accommodated. On the other hand there really is no upper age limit so long as you are flexible enough and keen to give it a go. Weight restrictions don’t really apply, but please contact us if you have any concerns.
Not necessarily, however confidence in the water is essential. it’s beneficial that participants have basic swimming skills, but coastguard buoyancy aids (life jackets) are provided for safety in any case.
On-the-Water Experience & Tips
You’ll start with a safety briefing, get fitted with the right gear, and learn the basics before hitting the water. Our BWSW-Licensed instructor, will guide you step-by-step to help you stand up, balance, and ride the wake confidently. Take a look at our guide on what to expect on your first wake surfing session
You can enjoy wake surfing or simply relax and take in the stunning views of Lake Windermere. A private boat hire is perfect for a family day out, honeymoons, romantic anniversaries, or other special occasions. Our boats all have built-in drinks chillers, so you can even bring a bottle of bubbly to celebrate while we take care of the driving.
Facilities & Logistics
Yes, parking during your session is available at Windermere Marina for your convenience. There is also Public parking next door to the Marina at Ferry Nab.
Yes, there are changing facilities at the marina.
On sunny days we recommend bringing sunglasses, and water. Drinks are allowed but please avoid bringing any glass containers onboard. We would also prefer you not to bring food onboard or items that might get damaged by water.
We do not provide food or drinks. You’re welcome to bring your own beverages, but please avoid glass containers.
Additional Services & Policies
Yes, we accommodate non-English speakers and are proud to cater to guests from all over the world. We use visual demonstrations to ensure everyone feels comfortable.
Yes, we offer gift vouchers for wake surfing experiences—perfect for any occasion!
Cancellations made 2 weeks in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 2 weeks may be moved to another time slot but not refunded. No changes are allowed within 48 hrs of the booking. Please check our full policy for details.
Safety & Insurance
Yes, all our boats and equipment are fully insured.
We prioritise safety by using experienced instructors, using industry leading safety equipment and providing comprehensive safety briefings before each session.
Bringing Friends, Family & Pets
Absolutely! Wakesurfing is a great activity for family fun. Those not surfing will enjoy the spectacular views of the lake and watch you surfing up close from the boat. Why not bring some refreshments to enjoy on board?
Unfortunately not. We love our furry friends but Dogs are not allowed on the boat as they can become stressed when their owners are in the water. However we do offer a Dog Sitting service for well behaved dogs whilst you are on your session.
