A Quick Tip From Us
We’ve spent years wakesurfing on Windermere and one thing we’ve learnt is that the weather can change quickly, even in the middle of summer. It might feel warm when you arrive, but once you’ve been in the lake you’ll be glad of a warm hoodie and a dry towel for the journey home.
Do I Need a Wetsuit to go in the Lake?
For most sessions, we’d recommend wearing one. Even on warm summer days, Lake Windermere is much cooler than the air temperature. A wetsuit helps keep you warm, comfortable and able to spend longer in the water enjoying your surf.
If you already own a wetsuit, you’re welcome to bring it along. If not, don’t worry, we have premium wetsuits available to hire.
Our wetsuits are well-maintained and in excellent condition. We believe good equipment makes a real difference to your experience, so we never cut corners on the kit we provide.

Our advice: If you’re deciding whether or not to hire a wetsuit, we’d almost always say it’s worth it. Staying warm means you’ll enjoy your session for longer and spend more time concentrating on your surfing rather than the temperature of the water.
What Should I Wear Under My Wetsuit?
Most people wear:
- Swim shorts
- Swimming costume
- Bikini
- Rash vest (if you have one)
Avoid cotton T-shirts or bulky clothing, as they’ll stay wet and become uncomfortable.
Do I Need Shoes?
You won’t wear shoes while wakesurfing, as the sport is done barefoot.
As we use premium Nautique boats, we ask all guests to remove their shoes before stepping on board. It helps us keep the boats in great condition for everyone to enjoy.
We’d recommend wearing shoes that are easy to slip on and off, such as flip-flops or sandals. There’s also a good chance they’ll get a little wet, so it’s worth leaving your best trainers at home.
What Do We Provide?
We’ll take care of everything you’ll need on the day, including:
- Wakesurf board
- Rope
- Buoyancy aid
- Optional premium wetsuit hire
Our focus is on making sure you have a brilliant experience from the moment you step on board. All of our equipment is well maintained, and we’ll make sure you’ve got everything you need before heading out onto the lake.

What Happens if It Rains?
A bit of rain doesn’t usually stop us from surfing. In fact, once you’re in the water, you’ll hardly notice it. If the weather isn’t suitable or it’s unsafe to head out, we’ll contact you to rearrange your session.
What jewellery should I wear?
We’d recommend leaving watches, necklaces and bracelets at home. Rings are usually fine if you’re happy wearing them in the water, but we can’t accept responsibility for lost jewellery.
